Who or what did you want to be when you grew up?

An archaeologist. More Indiana Jones. Less Nicholas Cage National Treasure.

What is your professional background?

I worked in the fashion industry for 4 years, mostly for Meadowlark Jewellery. My work was in sales and communications but it was at Meadowlark that I learnt about the power and craftsmanship of social media from my boss Claire. She had an eye and focus like no other. Then I made a shift into baking and hospitality to pursue my passion of sharing good nutritious food with people. That was about 5 years ago now.

When do you feel the most creative or inspired?

Reading through cookbooks. Walking in the bush.

When are you happiest?

When I nail a new baking recipe and it's DELICIOUS. When I can make others happy and feel heard. When I receive pictures of my little nephews being adorable dweebs.

What’s the best stress relief advice you’ve ever been given?

Pause, breathe, respond.

What is your most treasured possession?

The technicolour hand crocheted blanket my Nan made me. She would work on it for such long stretches at a time that her fingers would go blue and it was only when someone else mentioned it that she noticed and took a break. It was was only a couple of months after that that she passed away.

What is the most important thing life has taught you thus far?

There's no such thing as perfect.

And don't be too quick to judge.

What is your number one business tip for surviving (and thriving) in your industry?

Appreciate the small things, the seemingly mundane days where nothing goes wrong, because you'll yearn for them when something goes down. And don't compare yourself to others. Where you are at is where you are meant to be.

What is your big project or goal for 2019?

Launching new variations of our products such as a Freedom loaf mix you can make at home, and a new deliciously textured version of our Buckwheat Freedom Loaf.

Standing for my local board (Albert-Eden) in the local government elections!

Who or what is inspiring you at the moment?

Right now, my peers; Plabita Florence of Forest who's in the process of setting up her own fine dining plant based restaurant. And Louise Hutt who's standing for Mayor in Hamilton and absolutely nailing it.

What do you continually ask yourself?

"What snacks do I have . . . "

Who do you collaborate with best?

People who are same same but different.

Who has challenged you to be better than you once were?

My partner. My Mum. My staff. My friends.

How does courage manifest in your work?

Getting up and turning up every day.
